I Spent Hours Hunting Free Worksheets. Here's Why We Built Packet Day. ⏱️
If you've ever typed "free 3rd grade worksheets" into a search bar at 9pm, this one's for you.
The hunt
I've spent hours on this. Not once. Over and over.
Searching. Filtering by grade. Clicking through sites that want my email before they show me anything. Downloading. Opening ten tabs to find the one page that actually fits. Printing. Realizing the math page is two grades too easy. Starting over.
And at the end of all that, what did I have? A reading page from one site. A math page from another. A coloring sheet from a third. Maybe they were all "dinosaur themed." But they didn't talk to each other. Different styles, different levels, no story, nothing tying the day together.
It wasn't a learning day. It was a pile of pages.
What free worksheets can't do
Free worksheets aren't bad. For drilling one skill, like a page of multiplication facts, they're great. I still use them.
But here's what I could never find. A full day of work where every subject connects. Where the reading leads into the math, and the math leads into the writing, and there's one fun character guiding my kid through all of it. A day built around what my kid is into right now, at their grade level.
And if your kid loves two things? Dinosaurs and baking? Good luck. That page doesn't exist anywhere.
Every free worksheet is made for every kid. Which means it's made for no kid in particular.
So we built it
My husband Andy and I built Packet Day for exactly that problem.
You type in your kid's name, their grade, and whatever they're obsessed with this week. In a minute or two, you get a full printable school day. Reading, math, writing, science and more, all tied together by one story and one character guide made just for that packet. There's a puzzle break, a corny Joke of the Day, and answer keys for you.
No hunting. No filtering. No tabs.
And it's never the same page twice. Every packet is brand new, as unique as the kid it was made for.
Any day works
We use Packet Day on regular homeschool days. On sick days, when I can't get off the couch. On burnt out days, when I have nothing left to plan. On road trips. On afternoons at Grandma's, when she wants something meaningful to do with the kids.
That's the whole point. It's there for whatever kind of day you're having.
See the difference
If you want the side by side, here's exactly how free worksheets compare to Packet Day.
Or take a peek at a real one: dinosaurs, outer space, sharks or kitchen science.
Your first packet is free, no card needed. Make one for your kid.
Happy learning,
Natalie 💛
